From 27th-30st April, Professor Cecília Roque attended the BioProcess International Europe Conference in Vienna. During this 4-day event, speakers covered the most recent innovations across five areas of interest in bioprocessing, from cell line development, cell culture, upstream and downstream processing to automation manufacturing and data-driven operations, sharing how research and industry are responding to growing demands of adaptability, speed and scalability.
As part of the “Downstream Processing” stream Professor Cecília gave a lecture on “The Future is Green: The Shift Towards Bio-Based Solutions in Bioseparation”, which focused on evaluating performance, purity, and scalability of novel bio-based raw materials for adsorbent preparation; implementing scalable biotechnology principles to reduce the environmental impact of downstream processing; and balancing green goals with economic reality and operational efficiency.
