We’re thrilled to welcome three new members to our lab as part of the INSPIRE project!
Madalena Figueiredo is an undergraduate Biochemistry student at NOVA School of Science and Technology (NOVA-FCT), currently completing her academic training. With previous internship experience, she now joins our Lab for the INSPIRE project. Her main goal is to apply and deepen her academic knowledge in a practical research context, while actively contributing to the project’s challenges. Her work will be centered on the design and discovery of biological ligands against therapeutic targets, thus contributing to the development of innovative detection tools for monitoring skeletal diseases and cancer.
Leandro Botas and Sofia Pinto are joining our lab for a short period of time as part of their Master’s in Biochemistry for Health academic program. Their work will mainly focus on biomarker production using cell-free expression systems.
Leandro Botas has a bachelor’s degree in Biology from ISPA, where he completed his final project focused on the genetic characterization and modification of a membrane complex in sulfate-reducing bacteria. By joining the lab, his primary objective is to learn how biomarkers are produced and analyzed using biochemical techniques.
Sofia Pinto has a bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry from NOVA-FCT, where she completed a research internship and her undergraduate project focused on protein expression, purification, and biochemical characterization. By joining the lab, her goal is to expand her hands-on experience in protein and biomarker research using advanced biochemical techniques.
